Vans shoes was started in 1966 by brothers Paul Van Doren and Jim Van Doren. Back then, the Van Doren Rubber Company would manufactures shoes on premises and sell them directly to the public. Thanks to their rugged construction and sticky sole, by the early 70s skateboarders all over the USA were wearing Vans shoes.
